Client : Color Line AS

Streamlined management of food tags displayed in the restaurants and coffee shops of  several ships with the Primacy plastic card printer.

The challenge: edit, update and clean the 400 food tags in 6 ships

ColorLine AS is one of the largest ferry operators in Europe employing 3500 people in four countries.

Each of its 6 ships has a capacity of 2,500 guests.

The management was looking into a more efficient and hygienic solution to edit, update and clean the 400 food tags displayed in the restaurants and coffee shops of each ship.

The new food tag issuance system had to be compatible with the menu management software already in place in order to keep one single system to manage their restaurants.

The solution: 19 Evolis Primacy card printers to personalizes and prints the food tags directly on the ship

Following the new EU regulation on food information to consumers, ColorLine, as a Norwegian company, decided to comply voluntarily with this law. During 2015, 19 Primacy card printer models from Evolis have been deployed in its 6 ships and its hotel. BUYSEC AS, the Evolis distributor in Norway, preprints the cards with the ColorLine logo. Then, the Color Line staff personalizes and prints the food tags directly on the ship on white plastic cards with black monochrome text.

The result: responsiveness, time saving and reinforced brand’s image

Through the Evolis software CardPresso Price Tag edition included in the package, the staff can now very quickly personalize each food tag with the name of the dish, the ingredients and the allergens.

200 new food tags are issued each month.

Edikio – Three new price tag solutions

In March 2017, Evolis has launched three new all-in-one solutions for price labeling on plastic cards that meet the diverse needs of small, independent food retailers up to large retail outlets.

All Edikio solutions are comprised of card design software, a card printer, blank plastic cards and a print ribbon, enabling cards to be printed quickly and independently onto a plastic card. Price tags can thus be created at any time, directly at the point of sale, individually or in batches.

Evolis offers three solutions adapted to the needs of all food retailers:

  • Edikio Access, the affordable solution for single-sided card printing in credit card format for small volumes.
  • Edikio Flex, the flexible solution for printing price tags in long format as well as credit card format to fit different display needs.
  • Edikio Duplex, the advanced solution for double-sided and high-volume card printing. The reverse side allows for the display of information dedicated to the sales staff.

The printer operates just as easily as an office printer. The plastic cards and the print ribbon included in the Edikio pack are installed in a single gesture.

« With the software that provides card models and icons, we can now update each food tag within seconds. The plastic cards are a great solution to our hygiene problem, the cardboard tags used previously deteriorated very quickly due to the washing »
